I´ve had this idea for a long time, to create a frame that is light enough to carry where the best light is and big enough to make a statement.
I thought, let´s make one today because I have all this energy. After all, spring is coming, and I’m so happy to be outside without the snow. (Dreading my hayfever, but it’s a problem for later, now I’m just enjoying it while it’s still kinda winter).
If you want to build the frame yourself, it is helpful to have a screwdriver and a saw. Some wood and, of course, screws. It is handy if u have prior experience, but I didn´t, so if I can build it, so can you!
I started by picking out the rusty nails from the wood I found. It was wood from the roof, perfect because it is already impregnated and can withstand the weather. I wanted it to be an outside frame so I can use my ink squizers.
After that, I measured 2 meters and saw them to the correct measurement. For stability, I made a cross in the middle, also 2 meters.
For extra stability, I cut out 45cm corners with an extra block so it would withstand more weight.
It was fun to do, and I’m happy with it. I will post an update when I have my canvas on it.
This is just a construction that I will attach my canvas to. It is not a final frame that I will use for customers. I want to create big artworks, and then I will roll my art and deliver it without a frame.
