3 years ago, I moved back to Sweden after living in the Netherlands for 12 years. Little did I know that it would be the best decision for me, but back then, I had no idea what to do when I moved back to my parents’ place again. I was lucky enough to work on myself and get to know who I was for a few months before finding work.
Music being one of my biggest sources of inspiration, I went to a lot of concerts alone during that time. I needed to do things that gave me joy and energy. Even if it meant going alone, because missing an experience because you have no one to go with is not worth it in the end.
For the first time, I went to a multiple-day festival by myself. Yes, I also went crowdsurfing for the first time. Seriously, do it, it is a lot of fun. It made me grow as a person, and even though I went alone, I never felt alone, surrounded by thousands of people at Graspop.
Looking back now, three years later, I have grown significantly as a person by challenging myself to do what I love, even though it’s scary.
Sometimes when life takes a rough turn, all we can do is to put on an oxygen mask first, and that oxygen mask for me was, at that time, filled with heavy metal. It still is.
